Think About It...

Just for the record: I as a man and a human being am not perfect. I've said and done things in the past I wished I never had. It's cost me...but I hope I have learned from my mistakes. I hope I am a better person for it. That said, I am appalled that a 70-year-old man running for president can carry on a campaign as he has, make the hateful, sick comments he's made against fellow human beings and be completely without conscience. The latest comments are part of a pattern, don't deny it. Even worse, people are defending him, and acting like it's okay, and still supporting a man with no party and no platform, beyond platitudes and buzzwords.

Spare me the mansplaining. Spare me the excuses, conspiracies, and projection about Hillary Clinton and her husband. Spare me your going on about the Libertarian guy, the Green lady, writing in Bernie Sanders, or taking your vote and going home.

This is where we are, folks. Is this what you want? As an author, I write what I want to see, not what you are told you're supposed to see. That may not mesh with what you want or wish to see, and that's fine.

After November 8th, we will still be here. Are we going to be able to repair friendships lost, dig out from entrenched hatreds and beliefs, and perhaps, dare I say it, grow up? I find myself less and less confident that many of my fellows are going to be able to do that. This stretches years preceding the situation as it stands now.

I am thankful that I have some colleagues and friends who have managed to navigate this horrific, months-long, PCP-laced drug binge and can still treat others with decency and respect.

I don't give a fuck who you're voting for. I don't care what your religion is. I don't care what your skin color is, I don't care if you're gay, straight, bi or asexual. I don't care what gender you identify with. All of that is your business.

I try every day to see each person as what we are...Human Beings.

If this is too much for you, I'm sorry. Just unfriend me on Facebook, Twitter or wherever. I have a life to live, a job to do, and I'm going to do them. I will do my best to be fair, to be nice to people, and show respect. I try to treat people the way I would like to be treated. Again, I don't always do it right. I'm not perfect, but I do my best.

Okay. Outta here. I now return you to your regularly scheduled distraction. #thinkaboutit
