"Save Us from the Big Black Cloud..."

Hey, all...2019 has rolled in, with all the panache and restraint of a rattlesnake.

I may have mentioned that I began the end of the year with an accident, my old Honda smashed by someone who jetted out from a side street into me.

Well, the guy who hit me took responsibility, and Progressive paid up...I also had to kick in a grand for preexisting issues that I hadn't dealt with. But I have a virtually new car now.

I also have damage to various parts of my body. My spine was all out of alignment, but my chiropractor and massage therapists are working on me. Pain is kind of a relative thing...been through worse than this.

I do have some issues when I get up and walk, and also my earlier rotator cuff is still not right.

Oh, and did I mention I'm losing my job?

The Radio PA Network is ending operations as of April 15th. Years of providing state news to numerous affiliates will cease to exist, unless someone/something steps in and takes it up. Too soon to tell about anything.

In case you wonder, I tried to write this blog a while ago, and the net decided it wasn’t gonna let me do it.

The Big Black Cloud...I saw Joe Jackson not long ago in Harrisburg, and this was one of the new songs on the latest CD, “Fool.”

It’s fucking brilliant. Every track. Scott Stuccio I’m sure will agree.

I’m under the big black cloud again, sad to say. What Winston Churchill called the “Black Dog” is much the same.

I think it is a combination of things. Work hours are maddening, knowing that a job is ending, without much for a prospect yet, and driving yourself to find work, while also promoting a new book that doesn’t have a release date yet, and going through a lot of therapy.

Physical needs to resume soon, as long as my insurance permits on the shoulder. That’s better, and I feel I’m gaining strength; even got back in the pool a little bit, so that’s something.

Also my chiropractor has done wonders. Dr. Greg has been working on my body, as there’s definite sciatic issues and my body was out as I might have said.

And...the joy of massage...oh, yes.

Barb is my masseuse, and a dark room, an hour of new agey music and waves, her voice and magic hands.

I wished I had indulged in this before, but this is on insurance, haha...it’s helped, a huge amount, and I’m feeling better with that.

I have to keep going. I know I don’t have to worry, not much, not a lot. I’m in a good state, I’ve been here before, and I’ve handled it, every damn time. Not always perfectly, but I have.

I feel for those who have not, or need help. I remember I am not alone, but I’m not as in dire straits as others.

So yeah, about this book...it’s feeling good. I’m going to be pushing this, getting out there, showing it off and talking to YOU.

If ever there was a good story, this is the one. The one I started 12 years ago.

Feeling more positive as I write this, and I must keep at it.

Believe me, I do not do mantras that are mere platitudes and bullshit.

I do NOT live in the past. There were no Good Old Days. There were no Wonder Years, motherfuckers.

There was then, and there is RIGHT FUCKING NOW.

I asked myself a question on Twitter today, and it is something that has driven me in my career, and my writing. It’s gonna sound silly, but what did I do today to make a difference? Either for me, or someone else?

I’m a step closer to getting this book out, and taking a step closer to the reality that I want.

This one is okay; I can live in it. I’m not jealous or envious or angry about those who have success...we all have to go through that, and getting our egos smashed a few times.

Some people never do. Or, they never learn.

I’m doing something different, in my life, and my writing, and I’m enjoying it.

For those who wish to repeat themselves, complain, and put themselves in stasis, you’re welcome to it, but I ain’t down with it.

I have time, some energy, and a drive to get my work out there. It’s not about radio anymore; that’s something I love doing, and I’ll keep working in it if I can make a difference...and yes, pay my bills.

And keep putting all these deranged stories out!

Anyway, I think you’ll like what I’ve written so far, if you’ve never read it. The new one’s gonna be at least a bit of fun.

Hope you think that way, too.

Peace, out.
