Interest in Our Past Works…

Well, it is a while now, and I have meant to blog and write a bit more here. Kao is enjoying the fleece downstairs on the couch, and since I am sitting here and updating the website, I thought it time to take a look at some interesting developments.

First of all, the response to the website has been 100% positive, and I’m most grateful for that. Ella Sandnes and I did a lot of work and a lot of discussing over the year or so. There will be tweaks, changes and new content as time goes by. Now that we’ve had it up for a while, I have started to pick up on other things.

I’ll give you an idea in a moment as to why there is a such a title, but as we move into the fall, and I approach an age that I never imagined I would live long enough to see, it’s given me time to think about how to proceed. What is happening, outside the madness of this world we live in?

We keep creating, we keep making, we keep writing, and we don’t quit.

The recent ideas for my new book, “Legend of the Black Swan” are coming. While I await the editor’s eyes, my cover artist, Megan has done a brilliant job. It’s so cool, and I can’t put that into the right words, it just is.

I’ll get around to explaining more about this as time goes on. Meanwhile, I received an interesting bit of news.

I’ve been getting all kinds of weird offers from people about my books, and usually they’re hucksters or worse—they gush about how one of my books “touched my/their heart,” and how they want to provide a service…for a fee, of course.

Bullshit, most of it.

Anyway, I discovered that my first book, “Parasite Girls” has attracted some attention…click on that thing…

So yeah, this was a novel that I wrote back around 2011 or thereabouts, and I self-published it in 2013. The book was chosen for its ease, on a lot of levels. Contemporary fiction, only four major characters, and a look at another land and social injustice. A plot, intrigue, adventure, sexuality, identity, horrific things people do to oneselves, and a crossroads with hopeful possibilities.

Even today, people find the book intriguing, and I hope it would still. Anyway, a reader’s group of some kind chose this book for a gang-read. I was told that the earlier works contain quite a bit of important ingredients for a writer. You get to read me in a “groove” that wasn’t there yet. But, despite some glaring uncertainties, this book turned out damned well. It got me signed to Sunbury Press, so it did well, indeed.

I think if anyone reads this, they would enjoy it, and as ever, find that one person in there they identify with, or want to root for, and care about.

I’m not sure what this group requires of me, they just asked some basic questions and then asked for a specific scene I thought typified or summed up. Hope the one I picked works.

And you know, there’s always interest in our earlier works, so it is important to keep those in your mind. Have a copy at your events, have one or two ready to sell, and if you want to cut the price, then so be it. They will look at it, the readers will.

I’m feeling good on that.

It’s been a difficult year, hasn’t it? My health is largely better than the debacle of last year, and I’d like to not talk about it. In any case, onward I go, though I feel part of me isn’t so interested. My physical health is okay, but could be better, and mentally I wonder…my depression is not terrible but as we roll into the darker months, that can be a problem.

I’ve gotten old enough now, that a lot doesn’t bug me anymore. I don’t worry about age, and I have no need to puruse a love interest or go after something that isn’t there anymore. I think we mistake ourselves for the thing we are not. We wish we were, and that’s why we write as we do. We want to aspire to be more than we are.

We make that, over time; when the time comes to leave, we can look back at it, I’d say and hope we did all right. I have so far, and I have so much more to do, to offer.

Life goes on, and I go with it.

Peace, Out.
